WCSO Investigating String of Vehicle Burglaries in Virginia City Foothills

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of vehicle burglaries that occurred in the early morning hours of November 18, 2025, in the Virginia City Foothills area.

Deputies canvassed residential neighborhoods throughout the Virginia City Foothills and discovered more than a dozen vehicles where victims reported items taken from the interior of their vehicles. Based on the ongoing investigation, deputies believe the burglaries occurred between approximately 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.

In each case, the suspect (pictured below) entered vehicles through unlocked doors and attempted to enter dozens more that were secured.

Deputies are actively working to identify the suspect involved in this case and believe he was driving a newer-model white hatchback-style SUV (visible in the left rear of the photo).

Residents who believe they may have home surveillance footage capturing suspicious activity during the timeframe indicated, witnessed anything unusual, or have information that may assist in identifying the suspect are asked to contact the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency dispatch line at (775) 785-WCSO (9276) and reference case number WC25-5805.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public to lock and secure their vehicles, remove valuables, and consider additional safety measures such as installing motion-activated lighting, ensuring home surveillance cameras are functioning properly, and reporting any suspicious activity in your neighborhood. Small preventative steps can greatly reduce the likelihood of vehicle-related crimes.
