On November 19, 2025, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies received reports from multiple Washoe County Human Services Agency (HSA) employees who had been receiving violent and threatening communications. Employees reported numerous phone calls, voicemails, and text messages containing threats of sexual assault, murder, and active-shooter violence directed at them and their workplace.
Following the investigation, deputies identified the suspect as 32-year-old Reno resident Cliffonda McCarver.
On November 20, 2025, with assistance from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Human Exploitation and Recovery Operations (HERO) Unit, the Northern Nevada Drug Task Force (NNDTF), and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit, McCarver was located and taken into custody without incident.
McCarver was transported to the Washoe County Detention Facility and booked on the felony charge of Coercion with Force or Threat of Force and four misdemeanor counts of Harassment.
Additionally, McCarver had an outstanding felony warrant out of the State of California for Corporal Injury on a Spouse or Cohabitant, as well as Revoked Probationary Status associated with that warrant.
