As the Reno Rodeo returns to town from June 19 to June 28, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office wants to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees. In partnership with the Reno Rodeo, the following traffic modifications and safety protocols will be enforced to support event operations and public safety:
Traffic Circulation and Road Closures
To manage increased traffic around the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center, expect the following changes:
- Wells Avenue will be reduced to two lanes.
- One-way, west/southbound traffic will be in effect on Wells Avenue from Sutro Street to 9th Street.
- Northbound traffic on Wells Avenue will be diverted east at 9th Street and north at Sutro Street.
- Left-turn-only access will be permitted into and out of the rodeo grounds from Wells Avenue.
- Full turning movements will still be allowed on 9th Street and Sutro Street. Traffic will be guided by posted signage.
- Taxi stands will be located south of Sadlier Drive on Wells Avenue for convenient pick-up and drop-off.
Shuttle & Parking
To reduce congestion, attendees are encouraged to use the free shuttle service from designated off-site parking areas:
- Grand Sierra Resort (2500 East 2nd Street, Reno, NV 89595)
- University of Nevada, Reno, Peccole Park, off Evans Avenue
A dedicated bus stop north of Gate 2 will provide a direct service to and from these lots.
Event Safety Protocols
Your safety is the priority of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and the Reno Rodeo. Please note the following safety procedures in effect during the event:
- All attendees will be screened at entry gates.
- A Clear bags only policy will be enforced. Please leave valuables at home and not in your vehicle.
- Children’s safety is paramount—please keep kids close and accounted for at all times.
- Please drive slowly and remain vigilant in high-foot-traffic areas.WCSO
