WASHOE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE TO PARTICIPATE IN STATEWIDE JOINING FORCES SPEEDING AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office will partner with agencies across Nevada for the Joining Forces Speed Awareness Campaign scheduled for March 13 through March 29, 2026. During this period, deputies will take part in increased traffic enforcement efforts aimed at improving safety on our roadways. The campaign brings agencies together statewide with a shared goal of reminding drivers to slow down, stay alert, and make responsible choices behind the wheel.

Speeding continues to play a major role in serious and fatal crashes throughout Nevada. It is not limited to driving over the posted speed limit. It also includes traveling at a speed that is unsafe for current road or weather conditions, including rain, snow, or icy surfaces. Driving too fast reduces a driver’s ability to react, increases stopping distance, and can make the impact of a crash far more severe. Slowing down gives drivers more time to respond and helps protect everyone on the road.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to reducing the number of fatalities on Nevada’s roads to zero by increasing public awareness about the dangers of speeding, driving unrestrained, impaired driving, distracted driving, and more.
