Washoe County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Standoff Leads to Arrest of Unwanted Subject

Washoe County, NV- On Sunday, June 8, 2025, at approximately 4:20 p.m., Washoe County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) Dispatch received a call regarding an unwanted subject at a residence in the 6900 block of Brahms Drive. The reporting party, a female resident, stated that her ex-boyfriend—who is currently under a court order to stay away from her—was inside the home harassing her. She also advised that her children were present in the residence.

Deputies responded immediately and safely removed the woman and her children from the home. Due to facts learned during the investigation, and out of an abundance of caution and concern for community safety, the WCSO SWAT team was activated and responded to the scene. After a thorough search of the property, the suspect—identified as Enrique Cardenas—was located and taken into custody without further incident.

Cardenas was transported to the Washoe County Detention Facility and booked on the following charges:

  • Violation of release conditions NRS 178.4845
  • Assault Constituting Domestic Violence NRS 200.471.2A
  • Obstructing and Resisting a Public Officer NRS 199.280.3

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office commends the quick response and coordinated efforts of patrol deputies and SWAT personnel, which ensured the safety of the victims and the surrounding community.
