Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Reno Police Department, and Sparks Police Department Launch OffenderWatch Public Portal

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Reno Police Department, and Sparks Police Department have launched a new OffenderWatch Public Portal, a searchable public resource designed to help community members access information related to registered sex offenders in Washoe County, including the cities of Reno and Sparks.

The OffenderWatch Public Portal is managed by detectives and officers assigned to the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit (RSONU) and provides residents with an additional tool to stay informed about offender activity in their local communities. The portal complements the official Nevada Sex Offender Public Website, which remains the state’s primary registry and contains public record information on individuals required to register as sexual offenders under Nevada law.

OffenderWatch is a nationally recognized offender management and community notification system used by hundreds of law enforcement agencies across dozens of states. Our region’s law enforcement uses OffenderWatch to manage and monitor the whereabouts, conduct, and compliance status of registered offenders. The system provides accurate, timely information and is updated continuously throughout the day as offender information changes, allowing the public access to real-time publishable data.

The OffenderWatch Public Portal allows users to enter any address within Washoe County and view registered offenders within a specified radius of that location. Because offender information can change frequently, the portal also offers a free and confidential email alert system. Community members may register multiple addresses of interest, such as their home, school, workplace, or other frequently visited locations, and receive email notifications if a new offender registers within one mile of any registered address. There is no cost for this service, no limit to the number of addresses that may be registered, and all user information remains confidential.

Through the OffenderWatch Public Portal, users can:

  • Search for offenders by address
  • Search for offenders by name
  • Search for offenders by city
  • Identify non-compliant offenders
  • Register for email alerts
  • Review personal safety tips
  • Access links to additional offender-monitoring resources
  • View contact information for RSONU detectives and officers

This public portal is intended to support informed decision-making related to personal and family safety by helping residents understand the possible presence of registered offenders in their neighborhoods. Law enforcement agencies across our region encourage community members to use this tool as part of a broader public awareness and safety effort.
