On June 21, 2026, at approximately 8:30 p.m., deputies with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a battery with a deadly weapon in the parking lot of 5360 Sun Valley Boulevard.
During the investigation conducted by Washoe County Sheriff’s Office detectives, it was determined that an adult male suspect was parked at the location in his vehicle. The suspect exited the vehicle and approached an adult female victim, who was seated inside her vehicle and known to him. The suspect, who was armed with a firearm, discharged the weapon at the female victim. The male suspect then inflicted a gunshot wound upon himself.
Upon arrival, deputies located the adult male suspect with a gunshot wound. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The adult female victim, who sustained a gunshot wound during the incident, was transported by emergency medical personnel to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting its formal death investigation and will release the identities of the decedents following notification of next of kin.
