Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Recovers Stolen Jewelry; Suspect Arrested

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office has recovered approximately $32,300 worth of stolen jewelry and arrested a suspect following an investigation into a theft reported at a residence in northwest Reno.

On October 20, 2025, deputies responded to a report of stolen jewelry from the home of a 91-year-old Reno resident. The victim reported multiple pieces of jewelry missing, including several high-value items that were family heirlooms.

Deputies began an investigation into the missing property and learned that the victim had recently hired a technician, later identified as 42-year-old Robert Wild, to perform routine maintenance work inside the home. Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that Wild was responsible for the theft and was in the process of attempting to mail the stolen jewelry to a precious metal refining company.

Deputies recovered the stolen jewelry, along with an additional gold pendant that did not belong to the victim.

On October 21, 2025, Wild was arrested and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on the following charges:

  • Theft (over $25,000 but less than $100,000, with the victim being an older person)
  • Attempted Obtaining Money by False Pretenses (over $25,000 but less than $100,000)

This investigation remains ongoing as the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office works to identify the owner of the recovered gold pendant (pictured below) and to determine whether additional victims may exist.
