The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is joining a statewide Joining Forces campaign focused on impaired driving enforcement and education. This coordinated effort brings agencies together across Nevada with a shared goal of reducing crashes, injuries, and fatalities linked to impaired driving.
From February 6 through February 22, 2026, deputies will increase patrols throughout Washoe County, focusing on identifying unsafe driving behaviors and removing impaired drivers from local roadways. Along with enforcement, the campaign encourages the community to plan ahead and make responsible choices.
Impaired driving remains a serious risk to public safety. Alcohol or drug impairment affects judgment and reaction time, placing everyone on the road in danger. Community members are encouraged to:
- Arrange a sober ride before going out, whether through a rideshare service, taxi, or public transportation.
- Choose a designated driver who will remain alcohol and drug free.
- Report suspected impaired drivers to law enforcement when it is safe to do so.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to reducing the number of fatalities on Nevada’s roads to zero by increasing public awareness about the dangers of speeding, driving unrestrained, impaired driving, distracted driving, and more.
