Washoe County Sheriff’s Office MAIT investigating critical injury accident, Patrol Deputies likely saved life

Sep 27, 2021

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is investigating a critical injury accident between a vehicle and a motorcycle which occurred late September 25, 2021.

At approximately 10:00 p.m. Saturday night Patrol Deputies responded to a crash between a motorcycle and SUV at the intersection of Lemmon Drive and Patrician Way within minutes of the collision.

Patrol Deputies came upon the motorcyclist in the roadway with critical injuries to his leg and immediately began lifesaving measures. Multiple tourniquets were applied to the rider’s lower extremity prior to medical crews arriving on scene. The man was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.

Initial findings indicate the motorcyclist was traveling northeast on Lemmon Drive. The driver of the SUV was travelling southwest. The driver of the SUV attempted a left turn onto Patrician, and the biker collided with the vehicle. There were no skid marks indicating an attempt by either driver to stop.

The driver of the SUV remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. The driver of the SUV passed Field Sobriety Tests (FSTs).

Speed may be a factor in this collision. While nobody was cited at the scene this is an ongoing investigation.
