The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is participating in a statewide Joining Forces campaign aimed at reducing impaired driving. This initiative highlights the importance of safe driving and raises awareness about the dangers and consequences of driving under the influence.
From February 8, 2025, through February 23, 2025, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with law enforcement partners across the state, will increase patrols focused on impaired driving enforcement. These efforts are designed to enhance public safety by educating the community on the risks of impaired driving and enforcing Nevada’s DUI laws.
Driving under the influence is not just illegal—it’s dangerous and potentially deadly. It puts not only the driver but everyone on the road at risk. To help keep our roads safe, plan ahead:
- Use ride-share services, taxis, or public transportation.
- Designate a sober driver before consuming alcohol or drugs.
- Report suspected impaired drivers to law enforcement.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to reducing the number of fatalities on Nevada’s roads to zero by increasing public awareness about the dangers of speeding, driving unrestrained, impaired driving, distracted driving, and more.
The Nevada Department of Public Safety’s Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration provide funding for law enforcement agencies to participate in Joining Forces traffic safety campaigns to reduce traffic deaths.
