The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is participating in a statewide Joining Forces campaign aimed at reducing impaired driving. This initiative highlights the importance of safe driving and seeks to raise awareness about the dangers and consequences of driving under the influence.
From December 16, 2024, through January 5, 2025, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with law enforcement partners across the state, will increase patrols focused on impaired driving enforcement. These efforts are designed to enhance public safety by educating the community on the risks of impaired driving and enforcing Nevada’s DUI laws.
Driving under the influence puts not only the driver but everyone else on the road in jeopardy. To help ensure our roads are safe, we encourage all drivers to plan ahead by using ride-share services, public transportation, or designating a sober driver. Your safety and the safety of others depend on making responsible choices.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to reducing the number of fatalities on Nevada’s roads to zero by increasing public awareness about the dangers of speeding, driving unrestrained, impaired driving, distracted driving, and more. The Nevada Department of Public Safety’s Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration provide funding for law enforcement agencies to participate in Joining Forces traffic safety campaigns to reduce traffic deaths.
