The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is joining law enforcement agencies across Nevada for the Joining Forces Click It or Ticket campaign, running from November 10 to December 1, 2024. This statewide effort emphasizes the importance of seat belt use, aims to educate motorists on seat belt safety, and ultimately seeks to save lives through proactive, high-visibility patrols.
Every year, preventable fatalities occur on Nevada’s roads due to individuals not wearing seat belts. Wearing a seat belt is the most effective way to reduce the risk of severe injury or death in a crash. Proper seat belt use means securing both the lap and shoulder belts across the hips and chest; wearing the shoulder belt behind the back or under the arm reduces the life-saving potential of this essential safety feature.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to reducing the number of fatalities on Nevada’s roads to zero by increasing public awareness about the dangers of speeding, driving unrestrained, impaired driving, distracted driving, and more. The Nevada Department of Public Safety’s Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration provide funding for law enforcement agencies to participate in Joining Forces traffic safety campaigns to reduce traffic deaths.
