Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Accidental Drowning at Sand Harbor

On July 27, 2026, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Washoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the North Sand Harbor boat ramp following a report of a possible water rescue.

Upon arrival, deputies observed an unresponsive adult male being brought to shore by bystanders. Deputies immediately began life-saving measures until medical personnel arrived on scene and continued resuscitation efforts.

Despite those efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The incident is being investigated by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office as an accidental drowning.

The victim was a 32-year-old male from out of state. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
