WASHOE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE INCREASES ENFORCEMENT DURING STATEWIDE IMPAIRED DRIVING CAMPAIGN

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office will take part in a statewide Joining Forces campaign focused on impaired driving from June 5 through June 21, 2026. During this enforcement period, deputies will dedicate additional patrol resources to identifying and stopping drivers who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The campaign combines enforcement with public education to reinforce the importance of making safe, responsible decisions before getting behind the wheel.

Impaired driving continues to be a major factor in serious and fatal crashes. Alcohol and drugs can slow reaction time, impair judgment, and reduce coordination, creating dangerous conditions for everyone on the road. Driving impaired is illegal in Nevada and carries significant legal and personal consequences.

Community members are encouraged to plan ahead:

  • Use a rideshare service, taxi, or public transportation if you plan to drink.
  • Designate a sober driver who will remain alcohol and drug free.
  • Contact law enforcement to report suspected impaired drivers when it can be done safely.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to reducing the number of fatalities on Nevada’s roads to zero by increasing public awareness about the dangers of speeding, driving unrestrained, impaired driving, distracted driving, and more.
