The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Administrative Bureau will return to first-come, first-served appointments for Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) Permits on Fridays, beginning tomorrow, Friday, April 30, 2021.
There are up to 42 appointments available every Friday. The first appointments are at 8:00 a.m. The last appointments will occur at 3:30 p.m. Doors will open at approximately 7:45 a.m. and a staff member will distribute time slots for the appointments at that time. Once the slots have been filled, any individuals remaining will be encouraged to keep their previously scheduled online appointment, schedule an online appointment, or return the following Friday. All applicants are required to bring their Firearms Safety Certificate. Social distancing is required, so some customers may have to wait in their vehicles until their designated slot opens.
First-come, first-served appointments are one avenue the Sheriff’s Office Administrative Bureau is trying to get through the unprecedented number of CCW Permit applications. The normal online appointments are currently booked out 120-days. A person attempting to schedule an appointment today would get an appointment, at the earliest, on August 27, 2021, unless they choose to try the first-come, first-served line on Fridays.
