Washoe County Sheriff’s Office H.E.R.O. Unit Conducts Multi-Day Operation Targeting Human Trafficking

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Human Exploitation and Recovery Operations (H.E.R.O.) Unit recently conducted a multi-day operation focused on recovering trafficking victims, providing positive contacts for advocacy, and enforcing laws related to human trafficking and exploitation throughout the region.

This operation, conducted from December 9 to December 12, 2024, successfully facilitated the recovery of seventeen adults and one juvenile identified as victims of human trafficking or exploitation. Additionally, it resulted in five felony arrests and initiated three human trafficking investigations.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office H.E.R.O. Unit remains steadfast in its mission to safeguard the most vulnerable members of our community. This recent operation underscores the unit’s commitment to dismantling human trafficking networks and providing victims with a pathway to recovery and support, all while treating them with dignity and compassion.
