David Wilcox, 51, of Reno is in custody at the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility and faces more than five dozen felony counts of capturing images of the private area of another person after an extensive investigation by detectives.
Shortly after midnight on June 20, 2021, a victim approached deputies patrolling the grounds of the Livestock Events Center. The man believed he was surreptitiously recorded while urinating in a portable bathroom by someone in the neighboring porta potty. The victim never lost sight of the portable in question, and deputies witnessed Wilcox leaving the neighboring facilities.
While interviewing Wilcox, deputies determined he had an active warrant out of Reno Justice Court and placed Wilcox into custody.
Further investigation and inspection determined multiple portable bathrooms had holes cut out of them to surreptitiously record victims while they were urinating. The damage to the portable bathrooms is estimated to be between $6,000-$7,000. The portable bathrooms were located and swapped-out by the rental company.
Wilcox was also booked on June 20th with one felony count of peering, peeping or spying through the dwelling of another while in possession of a deadly weapon at the time of violation; and with one felony count of destruction of property where the value of loss is $5,000 or more.
After obtaining a warrant, detectives uncovered dozens of videos of adult, male genitalia all from inside portable bathrooms on devices owned by Wilcox, and the devices were in his possession when he was initially taken into custody. The videos were recorded onto the devices during the Friday night and Saturday night Rodeo events.
It is important to note – none of the victims can be identified as no faces are shown, and all victims are believed to be adult men.
Detectives with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office add booked Wilcox with the additional 61 charges on Thursday, June 24, 2021. This is an ongoing investigation.

When the Sheriff’s Office is contracted by a third party to provide security – an entity obtains agency resources including and not limited to the Special Operations Division, Patrol Division, CERT Volunteers, and Detectives.
