On March 7, 2025, deputies responded to a residence near Gerlach after receiving a report of suspicious activity. Upon arrival, they located an immobilized pickup truck at the scene and made contact with the vehicle’s sole occupant, identified as Emily Hamilton. Further investigation revealed that a second suspect, Anthony Messmann, had also been present but had fled before deputies arrived.
The victim reported that he had confronted Hamilton and Messmann after discovering them on his property. Messmann then left the area on foot.
Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered multiple items belonging to the victim, burglary tools, and three firearms. The Regional Aviation Enforcement Unit (RAVEN) was deployed to assist in locating Messmann, but he was not immediately found.
Hamilton was taken into custody and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- Residential Burglary 1st (Felony)
- Attempted Residential Burglary 1st (Felony)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance <14 grams (Felony)
The following day, on March 8, 2025, deputies located Messmann walking along High Rock Road. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- Residential Burglary 1st (Felony)
- Attempted Residential Burglary 1st (Felony)
- Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm (Felony)
