The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), in partnership with the Washoe County Honorary Deputy Sheriff’s Association (WCHDSA) and our many generous community partners, is excited to host our 7th annual Christmas in July back-to-school event. In preparation for the 2025/2026 school year, we will provide more than 1,500 students from Northern Nevada with FREE backpacks filled with school and hygiene supplies.
Bring your kids to this fun-filled event, where they can enjoy carnival games, explore equipment, learn about community resources, and meet Sheriff Balaam and members of our WCSO staff.

- What: 7th Annual Christmas in July Back-to-School Event
- Who: Students from Pre-K through high school
- When: Saturday, July 19, 2025, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Where: Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, 2680 East Ninth Street, Reno, NV 89512
This community event is FREE for all families in need. No registration is required, and distribution will be on a first-come, first-served basis. A parent or guardian must accompany students.
Members of the media are invited to attend, and there will be opportunities for interviews.

The inaugural “Christmas in July” Back-to-School event was first held in 2019, serving 265 children. This event is made possible by the generous contributions of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Honorary Deputy Sheriff’s Association, AT&T Pioneers, Boys & Girls Club, Sysco Food Systems, Sam’s Club, Toys for Tots, Jakks Pacific, Reno Aces, Katie Grace, and numerous private contributors, whose support ensures the success of this event.
