WASHOE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND JOIN INC. COLLABORATE TO CURB RECIDIVISM

Jul 16, 2024

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) has announced a new partnership with JOIN Inc. aimed at reducing recidivism rates through targeted workshops. These workshops will focus on providing incarcerated individuals with essential Soft Skills and Employability Skills Training, equipping them with the tools necessary for successful reentry into society.

JOIN Inc.’s workshop program is designed to enhance employment readiness by imparting crucial life and employability skills essential for securing and maintaining employment post-incarceration. The curriculum is meticulously crafted based on evidence-based practices known to yield positive outcomes post-release, including a reduction in recidivism rates.

Utilizing the latest in Labor Market trends, the Nevada Risk Assessment System (NRAS), and the Risk-Need-Responsivity (RNR) Model, JOIN Inc. ensures the content of its workshops is both relevant and effective. This strategic approach helps tailor the training to the unique needs of individuals, maximizing the likelihood of successful rehabilitation and reintegration.

“The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to implementing evidence-based re-entry programs,” said Sheriff Darin Balaam. “We are committed to supporting individuals in their journey back into society by providing scientifically proven programs that empower them to thrive in their communities, workplaces, and families.”
