During the evening of May 15, 2025, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Sun Valley for observed traffic violations.
While stopped, the driver, identified as Israel Jaramillo Lopez, showed signs and symptoms of suspected impairment and was detained. During the investigation, Lopez was found to be in possession of two firearms. A records check revealed both firearms had been reported stolen out of separate jurisdictions (Reno Police Department and Churchill County Sheriff’s Office).
Lopez was arrested and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on the following:
• NRS 484C.110 – DUI Alcohol, Second Offense
• NRS 205.275.2 – Possession of a Stolen Firearm (2 counts)
• NRS 484B.267 – Failure to Yield
• NRS 199.280.3 – Resist a Public Officer
