On May 29, 2026, at approximately 7:00 p.m., deputies with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the dirt extension of Chimney Road following reports of individuals shooting in the area. Nearby residents reported the gunfire sounded significantly closer to homes than is typical for the area.
WCSO aerial assets, including our RAVEN helicopter and HAWK drone teams, responded to the area and located a blue SUV occupied by several individuals discharging firearms in a congested area. Shortly thereafter, the individuals entered the vehicle and began leaving the area.
Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle as it exited the dirt extension of Chimney Road. Upon contact, one occupant immediately fled on foot from the vehicle. The vehicle then accelerated away at a high rate of speed.
RAVEN established visual contact with the fleeing vehicle and maintained continuous aerial observation, providing real-time location updates to deputies on the ground.
A short time later, another occupant exited the vehicle in a residential area and was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit with deputies.
RAVEN continued tracking the vehicle as it traveled from Sun Valley into Golden Valley before proceeding onto US-395.
Deputies and K9 units coordinated efforts to intercept the vehicle while RAVEN maintained aerial monitoring. The vehicle ultimately stopped and was immobilized on the southbound Golden Valley on-ramp, and the driver was taken into custody without further incident.
The driver, identified as Miguel Gonzalez-Martinez (19), was arrested on numerous charges, including:
• Felony eluding
• Driving under the influence of drugs
• Possession of a firearm while under the influence
• Discharging a firearm in or upon a public thoroughfare
The other suspect taken into custody following a foot pursuit was identified as Itztli Gonzalez-Romano (18). Gonzalez-Romano was arrested and charged with:
• Obstructing and resisting a public officer
• Unlawful discharge of a firearm
