Suspect Identified and Arrested in Fatal Hit-and-Run on Eastlake Boulevard

Washoe County, NV — The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office has identified and arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal hit-and-run that occurred earlier today on Eastlake Boulevard.

Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle-versus-bicyclist collision between Guffey Drive and Side View Way. The adult male bicyclist was transported by medical personnel to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The involved vehicle, described as a pickup truck, fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement.

As the investigation continued, a suspect was identified as Travis Smith, 43 years old. Smith cooperated with law enforcement and ultimately turned himself in. He was arrested and booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility for:

  • Duty to Stop at the Scene of an Accident Causing Substantial Bodily Harm or Death (NRS 484E.010)
