On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at approximately 10:37 a.m., deputies with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple 911 calls reporting that a woman was assaulting individuals with a baseball bat at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park.
Witnesses reported the suspect struck at least one victim with a baseball bat before leaving the area in a dark blue Honda Accord displaying a University of Nevada, Reno license plate.
While responding to the incident, a deputy located a vehicle matching the description and attempted a traffic stop. The driver failed to yield and fled, traveling at speeds exceeding 90 mph in posted 50 mph zones while running multiple red lights.
During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle stopped on North McCarran Boulevard near Sutro Drive before intentionally backing into a marked Washoe County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle. Deputies attempted to contain the vehicle, but the driver escaped and continued southbound on Interstate 395.
Deputies ultimately lost sight of the vehicle near the Interstate 80 interchange and terminated the pursuit.
A short time later, officers with the Reno Police Department located the suspect vehicle after it was involved in a traffic collision near the intersection of Virginia Street and Kietzke Lane. The driver fled on foot but was quickly taken into custody.
The suspect was identified as 35-year-old Bria Klein.
Two Washoe County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicles sustained minor damage during attempts to stop the suspect’s vehicle. No deputies were injured.
Klein was booked into the Washoe County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- Assault with a Deadly Weapon
- Driver Evading, Eluding, or Failing to Stop on Signal of a Peace Officer, Endangering Other Persons or Property
- Destroy or Injure Real or Personal Property of Another ($250 or Greater, but Less Than $5,000)
