Reno, NV- Join the Sun Valley General Improvement District in partnership with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office as we kick off the 2025 pool and recreation season with our annual Dive Into Summer event.
“All of us at the Sun Valley General Improvement District are excited to be kicking off the summer season with our annual Dive Into Summer Event,” said Susan Severt, Chair of the SVGID. “This event allows us not only to have fun, but to provide residents in the area with information from over 20 community partners. We are especially grateful to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office for their partnership on the event once again. We hope to see everyone out here and throughout the summer season.”
Bring your family, friends, picnic blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy a FREE hot dog, chips and soda. The event will include music, emergency responder equipment on display, information booths from our community resource partners, $1 raffle tickets for a chance to win great prizes, demonstrations by our recreation partners, and a limited amount of free Sun Valley Pool tokens.
No alcohol, smoking, or vaping is permitted, and leashed service dogs only.
“This picnic is more than just an evening of fun—it’s about building relationships,” said Sheriff Darin Balaam. By working alongside the Sun Valley General Improvement District and our many community partners, we’re creating a welcoming space where families can connect with resources, kids can engage with our deputies, and everyone has the opportunity to learn more about the tools and services we use every day. Events like this are an important part of strengthening trust, promoting understanding, and supporting the partnerships that make our community safer and stronger.”
The Robert & Norma Fink Sun Valley Pool will also open for the season Thursday, June 12 and will operate through Sunday, August 10. Pool hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 12pm-5pm as staffing and weather permits with free senior swim hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am-12pm.
