S-1 Fire Update: Fire Grows to More Than 6,500 Acres

VYA, Nev. – The S-1 Fire, burning in the Vya area of Washoe County, has grown to more than 6,500 acres with 0% containment as firefighters continue suppression efforts.

The fire has threatened one structure and two outbuildings.

Residents should continue to monitor conditions closely and be prepared to follow any instructions from emergency personnel as fire activity continues.

Road closures are in place at the intersection of County Road 34 and County Road 8A, and at the intersection of Barrel Springs Road and Mosquito Road.

The public is asked to avoid the affected area whenever possible to allow firefighters, law enforcement and other emergency personnel to safely continue response operations.
