Sparks Police Detectives with the Northern Nevada Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit (RSONU), and working in conjunction with Nevada Department of Public Safety, Parole and Probation officers arrested Shane Lynch, 22, of Sparks for felony possession of child pornography as well as violating conditions of his probation.
Lynch, a Tier II sex offender, was sentenced for possession of child pornography in December of 2020. As such, he is a registered sex offender and was on probation.
Detectives with ICAC developed probable cause to obtain a search warrant of Lynch’s devices. The search warrant was executed at his residence in the 1600 block of Union Street in Sparks on September 21, 2021. Probable cause was established, and he was taken into custody without incident.
The Northern Nevada Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is comprised of investigators from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Sparks Police Department, Reno Police Department, Nevada Attorney General’s Office along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
