Regional Detectives arrest Reno man for child pornography

Sparks Police and Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detectives with the Northern Nevada Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit (RSONU), and working in conjunction with the Nevada Attorney General’s Office arrested Jason Dobbs, 37, of Reno today for one count of Felony Possession of Child Pornography; One count of Use/ Permit a minor over 14 years of age as a subject of a sexual portrayal; One count of Use/ Permit a minor under 14 years of age as a subject of a sexual portrayal.

When the allegations regarding Jason Dobbs came to light, reports were filed with the Sparks Police Department and The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).  Sparks Police Detectives with the ICAC joint task force initiated the investigation.  Detectives also assigned to the ICAC joint task force with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and the State of Nevada Attorney General’s Office assisted with the investigation. 

Detectives with ICAC developed probable cause to obtain several search warrants for Dobbs’ residence and property.  The warrants were executed and as a result, Jason Dobbs was taken into custody without incident.

The Northern Nevada Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is comprised of investigators form the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, the Sparks Police Department, Reno Police Department, Nevada Attorney General’s Office along with the Department of Homeland Security Investigations and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
