During the week of May 3, 2021, the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit (RSONU) in conjunction with several local and Federal agencies conducted a county wide Sex Offender Compliance operation. During the operation agencies attempted to contact 1003 convicted Sex Offenders. The following is a breakdown of the successful operation:

67 Non-Compliant
5 Arrested
6 Deceased
114 No-Contact / No Answer at residence / Not home
The investigation is ongoing regarding the non-compliant and non- contacted Sex Offenders.
The operation involved Law Enforcement Officials from the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit (RSONU) Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Reno Police Department of Human Exploitation and Trafficking (HEAT), Parole & Probation, Nevada Attorney General, ICE, and the US Marshals. In addition to investigators, RSONU provides an Administrative Office Support Specialist who is instrumental with clerical preparation for the operation.
Currently, there are about 1400 registered sex offenders in the Reno, Sparks and Washoe County area.
