ICAC Investigation Leads to Arrest in Child Sexual Abuse Material Case

The Northern Nevada Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force has announced the arrest of a suspect following a months-long investigation into the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

In March 2025, the ICAC Task Force received a Cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding the suspected downloading of CSAM through a popular messaging application. The report identified forty-six image and video files depicting the sexual abuse of minor victims, including infants under one year old.

Task Force Detectives launched a comprehensive digital investigation, which traced the activity to a residence in the North Valleys area. A search warrant was obtained for associated online accounts, uncovering an additional substantial volume of CSAM images and videos.

In July 2025, authorities executed a residential search warrant at the identified home, seizing multiple digital devices for forensic examination. A detailed digital forensics analysis, completed in September 2025, confirmed the presence of illicit materials on the devices.

The primary suspect, identified as Alfred Adams, 27, of Reno, was arrested in connection with the investigation. Adams faces multiple felony charges, including:

  • NRS 200.725 – Distribute Material Depicting Child Sexual Abuse – Felony
  • NRS 200.730.1 – Possess Visual Presentation of Person Under Age 16 – Felony
  • NRS 200.727.1a – Use of Internet to Control Visual Presentation Depicting Sexual Conduct of Person Under Age 16 – Felony

This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat child exploitation in digital spaces.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office spearheads the region’s fight against child exploitation by dedicating full-time resources to the ICAC task force. These cybercrime investigators collaborate closely with the Sparks Police Department, FBI, Nevada Attorney General’s Office, Department of Homeland Security Investigations, and Carson City Sheriff’s Office to locate and apprehend offenders responsible for exploiting children. Task force members, deputized as Special Deputy United States Marshals, extend jurisdictional reach through participation in the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force.
