Head-On Collision Causing Death Under Investigation

Washoe County, Nevada — On April 26, 2025, at approximately 6:50 am, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies and medical personnel responded to a head-on collision involving two vehicles on Highland Ranch Parkway near Sun Valley.

One of the drivers was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel. The other driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Neither vehicle possessed any passengers.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded and has taken over the investigation. At this time, it is unknown if alcohol, drugs, or other factors contributed to the collision.

Highland Ranch Parkway is currently closed between Midnight Drive and Pyramid Highway. The roadway will remain closed until the M.A.I.T. investigation is complete. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
