Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and Local Agencies Battle Speeding on Joining Forces Speed Awareness Campaign

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and our local neighboring agencies participated in a multi-day event for the Joining Forces Speed Awareness Campaign, a statewide multi-agency initiative dedicated to combating speeding and enhancing public safety in our community. Running from January 16th to January 31st, this collaborative effort was to enhance public safety through high visibility enforcement across the state, focusing on raising awareness, educating motorists, and ultimately safeguarding lives.

In the joint operation on January 17th and 24th, our combined efforts have resulted in an impressive 170 citations and 22 warnings, with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office contributing an outstanding 50 citations and 8 warnings. This campaign demonstrates our commitment to keeping our roads safe and highlights the strength of community collaboration.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to reducing the number of fatalities on Nevada’s roads to zero by increasing public awareness about the dangers of speeding, driving unrestrained, impaired driving, distracted driving, and more.
