Oct. 8, 2026. Reno, Sparks, Nev. – Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH) and Renown Health are inviting local nonprofit organizations to apply for funding to support projects that address significant health needs identified in Washoe County.
NNPH is collaborating with Renown Health on the Partnerships for Progress Grants, which aim to support eligible nonprofits with funding for initiatives that align with priorities in the 2026 Community Health Needs Assessment. The top four priorities for Washoe County are:
- Mental health
- Access to health services
- Economic stability
- Health risk behaviors and early detection
The funding opportunity is designed to advance shared community health priorities while creating measurable and sustainable improvements in Washoe County.

“Improving community health takes more than any one organization can accomplish on its own,” said Dr. Chad Kingsley, District Health Officer for NNPH. “Our local nonprofit organizations bring expertise, trusted relationships and innovative ideas that can make a meaningful difference in the health of our community.”
Grant timeline:
- Oct. 21, 2026: Virtual grant information sessions and applicant Q&A
- Email health-media@nnph.org for meeting invite
- Nov. 13, 2026, at 5 p.m. PST: Application deadline
- January 2027: Grant award notifications and funding decisions
Organizations applying for the Partnerships for Progress Grant through the Better Together Initiative may be funded by Renown Health, Northern Nevada Public Health or jointly by both organizations, based on alignment with organizational priorities.
Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, school districts, public agencies and other governmental entities serving northern Nevada communities.
The Community Health Needs Assessment is a report generated every three years that combines information collected directly from community members and information gathered from trusted data sources to gain a more complete understanding of the community’s health needs, strengths, and challenges.
