Oct 27, 2022

Reno, Sparks, Nev., Oct. 27, 2022. Sparks City Councilman Kristopher Dahir was named Chair of the District Board of Health (DBOH) and Mike Brown was named Vice Chair at Thursday’s meeting.

Dahir, who has been on the DBOH since November 2016, takes over the Chair position after former DBOH Chair Oscar Delgado resigned last month. Brown, the City of Reno’s non-elected appointee since 2015, replaces Washoe County Commissioner Bob Lucey as Vice Chair after Lucey resigned from the DBOH last week.

Dahir and Brown will hold their respective positions for the remainder of the year until the Chair and Vice Chair positions are selected in January 2023 for a two-year term.

Reno’s newest DBOH member Councilman and Vice Mayor Devon Reese attended his first meeting on Thursday. Reese, appointed by Reno City Council for a four-year term on October 12, 2022, replaces Delgado. Additionally, the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) appointed Alexis Hill as the commissioner representative on the DBOH, replacing Lucey. Hill will serve until the BCC appoints a commissioner for a two-year term in January.
