Join the Food Protection Hearing and Advisory Board; two seats are open

June 7, 2024. Reno, Sparks, Nev.  – Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH) is accepting applications from members of the public to join the Food Protection Hearing and Advisory Board. There are two board positions that open up July 1, 2024 and members of the public and food service industry are encouraged to apply.

The Food Protection Hearing Advisory Board (FPHAB) consists of seven members that are appointed by the District Board of Health in Washoe County. At least two members must be representatives of the local food service industry.

The Board assembles as needed when a compliance action taken by NNPH is appealed by a food establishment, or when a variance hearing is required by the regulations governing food establishments. The Board works to create a recommendation for the District Board of Health (DBOH) to consider. Ultimately, the DBOH will rule on the matter.
