Farmers Market for WIC participants

RENO, NV – Washoe County Health District is excited to host Farmers Markets at local WIC offices to help clients access fresh fruits and vegetables. Minton Family Farms has partnered with the Health District to provide on-site farmers markets that will increase WIC clientele access to fresh fruits and vegetables and encourage healthy eating. Fruits and vegetables are an essential part of a healthy diet and Washoe County Health District WIC participants are eligible for $30 in coupons to use at select famers markets. Our first on-site Farmers Market will be:
Thursday, August 24th 9 am – 2 pm North Side of the Health District, 1001 E. 9th Street, Building B.
The public is encouraged to shop as well. The WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program was established to provide fresh, unprepared, locally grown fruit and vegetables to WIC participants, and to expand the awareness, use of, and sales at farmers markets. Fruits and vegetables are an essential part of a healthy diet.
