Dust Control and Portable Equipment Permitting Listening Sessions

June 10, 2022. Reno/Sparks, Nev. – The Washoe County Health District – Air Quality Management Division (AQMD) is hosting two public listening sessions in the coming weeks to discuss new Dust Control Permits as well as Portable Equipment Permitting.

Industry professionals in both sectors as well as anyone in the public are encouraged to attend. Information about permitting portable equipment is below – scroll down further to see information about Dust Control Permits. Any questions or concerns prior to or after the workshops can be submitted to  AQMD-compliance@washoecounty.gov.

Portable Equipment Permits to be revised

AQMD is proposing revisions to the process of applying for Portable Equipment Permits as well as internal process changes. Portable equipment includes aggregate crushers, screens, conveyors and industrial wood grinders, among other equipment.

Dust Control Permit listening session set for Thursday, June 23

AQMD is hosting a listening session regarding Dust Control Permit format, Dust Control Permit sign requirements and Dust Control Permit recordkeeping requirements. These changes will impact future Dust Control Permits holders and will take effect after July 1, 2022. Dust Control Permits are required for areas of surface disturbance of one acre or more.

In addition, the AQMD would like to discuss how we can improve our communication and education around the Dust Control Permitting and Compliance processes.
