A man who strangled his girlfriend has been found guilty by a jury of felony Domestic Battery by Strangulation. William Johnson (dob 1/27/56) is set to be sentenced on September 15th and faces up to 5 years in the Nevada Department of Corrections.
Sparks Police were called to the 59-year-old victim’s home last October, where they found her with extensive injuries consistent with strangulation. The woman told police that Johnson had been drinking that day and became physical when she attempted to leave. She shared that Johnson pushed her to the ground and held her in place with his knees while using both hands around her neck to squeeze. Johnson strangled her three times, letting go briefly each time she began to lose consciousness, before starting again. The victim had ruptured blood vessels in both eyes, as well as bruising and scratch marks on her neck.
Deputy District Attorney Rebecca Koss prosecuted the case and admitted photographs of the victim’s injuries to her eyes and neck at trial.
