Life Sentence in Child Porn Case

Defendant Recorded Children in Bathroom

Nov 10, 2025

Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks announces that a Sparks man has been sentenced to life, after pleading guilty to Using or Permitting a Minor Under 14 to be the Subject of a Sexual Portrayal in a Performance and Possessing Pornography of a Person Under 16.

Donald Karr II will be eligible for parole after 12 years. He was arrested by Sparks Police in 2024, after the 10-year-old victim found a hidden camera in a shared bathroom that she and the 12-year-old victim used. The defendant had also previously placed a cell phone in two separate bathrooms to clandestinely record the children.

Deputy District Attorney Kristina Rhoades handled the case on the State’s behalf and emphasized the danger Donald Karr posed to the community. The Honorable Barry Breslow presided and imposed the sentence.
