A jury has found Aiden Bartee (dob 6/9/03) guilty of felony Battery Resulting in Substantial Bodily Harm (Victim is an Older Person), following a two-day trial.

The 78-year-old victim was Bartee’s landlord at the time of the attack last March and had posted an eviction notice on the unit the defendant had been renting. After the victim went to check on the unit, Bartee came outside and punched the man in the face. As a result, he sustained significant injuries, including an orbital bone fracture and a fractured nose. The force of Bartee’s punch also knocked the victim’s glasses off his face and caused his hearing aid to come out. After attacking the victim, Bartee drove away before officers from the Reno Police Department arrived on scene. He was later arrested.

Deputy District Attorney Penelope Brady and Chief Deputy DA Amos Stege represented the State in this case, and at trial the victim, the victim’s wife, another tenant, and an officer from the Reno Police Department testified. Sentencing is set for September 10th before the Honorable David Hardy. Bartee faces a prison sentence of 10 years in the Nevada Department of Corrections.
