Drug Trafficker Sentenced to 20 Years

Had More than 2,000 Doses of Meth

Jun 22, 2026

A drug trafficker has been sentenced to 20 years in prison, with parole eligibility after eight years. Dennis Murroni (dob 3/3/72) was given the sentence for Trafficking Methamphetamine and a concurrent 28-72 months for Possessing a Firearm as a Convicted Felon. This sentence will run consecutive to Murroni’s current five-year sentence for Possession of a Controlled Substance, for which he was on probation at the time he committed the instant offenses.

The defendant was arrested after detectives with the Northern Nevada Drug Task Force were notified that Murroni had been selling drugs out of his home in Reno. A criminal history check showed that he had a history of drug and violence-related charges. On December 22, 2025, law enforcement organized the first of three controlled buys, where more than 7.5 grams of methamphetamine were sold. Over the next few weeks, two more buys were conducted, with an additional almost 6 grams and 2.6 grams of meth purchased. At the end of January 2026, law enforcement detained Murroni at a scheduled appointment with his probation officer, where he admitted to selling drugs and owning a gun. A search of his home found an additional 392 grams of meth and a handgun. In total, Murroni sold and possessed more than 2,000 individual doses of methamphetamine.

At sentencing, Deputy District Attorney Michael Vieta Kabell asked for all the charges to be run consecutively and pointed out the danger the community faces from people like Murroni, dealing deadly drugs and possessing illegal firearms. The Honorable Lynne Jones presided and imposed the sentence.
