Washoe County District Attorney's Office

Child Predator Sentenced to Life in Prison

Convicted of 13 Counts

Nov 15, 2024

Washoe County DA Chris Hicks announces that a Sparks resident has been sentenced to life in prison, after a jury previously convicted him of 13 counts, including multiple counts of Lewdness with a Child Under the Age of 14 Years, Lewdness with a Child Under 16, and counts for secretly recording the sexual abuse.

57-year-old Robert Rosales-Barrios was arrested back in 2022 after the 15-year-old victim disclosed that the defendant had been inappropriately touching her since she was 11 years old. During the investigation, Reno Police detectives learned that Rosales-Barrios had secretly recorded many of the acts on his cell phone.

Deputy District Attorney Amanda Sage highlighted the defendant’s repetitive, persistent actions, despite the fact that the victim clearly protested what was happening. Sage also touched on how the recordings inflicted additional trauma to the victim. The Honorable Judge Tammy Riggs presided and imposed the life sentence, with parole eligibility after 58 years.
