A Reno man who was convicted of two counts of Sexual Assault Against a Child Under 14 and five counts of Lewdness with a Child Under 14, has been given 7 consecutive life sentences. Adriel Zamora-Hernandez (dob 3/23/77) will not be eligible for parole until an aggregate 120 years are served.
“This sentence highlights the unwavering commitment of the DA’s office and local law enforcement to protect children in our community and pursue the harshest penalties available under the law,” said DA Chris Hicks. “Hopefully, the conclusion on this tragic case provides a measure of justice to the victim and helps her along her path to recovery.”
In August of 2020, the 10-year-old victim and her mother went to the Reno Police Department to file a report of sexual assault against Zamora-Hernandez. The child went to the Child Advocacy Center, where she disclosed that the defendant had been inappropriately touching her since she was 3 years old.
Deputy District Attorney Kristina Rhoades represented the State in this case. During sentencing, DDA Rhoades argued for the maximum sentence, focusing on the impact and continued harm child sexual abuse has on the victims of these crimes. The Honorable Kathleen Sigurdson imposed the sentence.
