May is recognized as National Treatment Court Month, an opportunity to highlight the Specialty Courts programs for those in the justice system with substance use, mental health, or co-occurring diagnosis. The Second Judicial District Court (SJDC) Specialty Courts serve more than 750 participants a year.
The Washoe County Law Library of the Second Judicial District Court has partnered with the Northern Nevada Women Lawyers Association to host a special Lawyer in the Library event to celebrate Law Day 2024. It will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Washoe County Law Library at 75 Court St. in downtown Reno. No registration is required. First come, first served.

Presiding Judge Egan Walker will hold the first in-person graduation for the Veterans Treatment Court since the court began conducting hearings remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic in March of 2020. The graduation will be Monday, Dec. 19.
