April 7, 2022. Reno/Sparks, NV – The Washoe County Health District – Air Quality Management Division (AQMD) recently had several air pollution violations upheld by the District Board of Health (DBOH), affirming the commitment to the community to implement clean air solutions that protect the quality of life for the citizens of Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County.
The violations ranged from failure to maintain air pollution control equipment, failure to have the permit posted on-site and failure to maintain records and logs. All appealed cases were heard by the Air Pollution Control Hearing Board (APCHB) on Feb. 16, 2022, and all violations were upheld. The cases then went to the District Board of Health, where board members unanimously voted to uphold the violations as well.
“We were pleased that the DBOH upheld these violations as our staff worked very hard to ensure that safe air quality standards were being met,” said Francisco Vega, Division Director for AQMD. “Our goal is to ensure local organizations comply with the air quality standards and allow for a fair appeal process for when violations are issued.”
