[Reno, NV]– Make the Road Nevada (MRNV), in partnership with Northern Nevada Public Health (NNPH), hosted a press conference on Tuesday, September 22, to celebrate five street food vendors from Northern Nevada who successfully completed the permitting and licensing process to operate in Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County. This initiative provided essential support to local vendors, helping them navigate the licensing process with assistance on permit fees, compliant equipment, and technical guidance.
The press conference featured the vendors’ stories and remarks from MRNV and NNPH on the importance of supporting local food entrepreneurs and the available resources for those seeking to become licensed.
Liliana Amador, member of Make the Road Nevada and owner of La Tapatia 1991, issued the following statement:
“Today I can work with peace of mind. I have my license. When I see an inspector walk by, my stomach no longer ties up in knots; I know my permits are in order. My customers know the antojitos I serve them are safe and delicious. And for the first time, I can think about growing my business.”
Chad Kingsley, District Health Officer of Northern Nevada Public Health, issued the following statement:
