On September 22, 2026, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office joined the Storey County Sheriff’s Office, Sparks Police Department and Nevada State Police for the second operation as part of the ongoing I-80 and USA Parkway Traffic Safety Operation.
The operation took place along I-80 between Vista Boulevard and USA Parkway and included the USA Parkway area of the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center.
The ongoing regional effort is focused on improving traffic flow and addressing dangerous driving behavior that puts motorists at risk and contributes to congestion. Participating agencies are working together to reduce dangerous driving, improve compliance with Nevada traffic laws and prevent crashes along the heavily traveled corridor.
During the September 22 operation, participating agencies reported the following results:
Traffic stops: 131
Citations: 95
Accident investigations: 3
Arrests: 1
This follows the first operation conducted on September 15, 2026, during which participating agencies conducted 239 traffic stops, issued 179 citations and made 6 arrests.
Drivers can continue to expect an increased law enforcement presence along the I-80 and USA Parkway corridor as the joint traffic safety operation continues.
