On July 1, 2026, members of the Nevada Violent Offender Task Force arrested Scott Conley on an outstanding felony warrant. The warrant, issued by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in Dayton, Ohio, charged Conley with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. His registration requirement stemmed from a prior conviction for “Encourage Child Sex Abuse, 2nd Degree.” The warrant was issued on April 20, 2026, and a collateral lead was submitted to the Nevada Violent Offender Task Force indicating Conley may have been located in Winnemucca, Nevada.
The arrest resulted from an ongoing investigation conducted by members of the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit (RSONU), who also serve on the Nevada Violent Offender Task Force in partnership with the United States Marshals Service and the Nevada Department of Public Safety.
Task Force members pursued multiple investigative leads and ultimately identified the subject’s location. Once his suspected location was confirmed, a coordinated operation was launched, and Conley was taken into custody in Winnemucca, Nevada. Conley was transported to the Humboldt County Detention Facility, where he was booked into custody. At the time of his booking, Conley was pending a court date for a Sex Offender Failure to Register charge originating in Winnemucca, Nevada.
This case highlights the continued collaboration among investigators and law enforcement personnel assigned to the Task Force. Their work reflects an ongoing commitment to monitoring known sex offenders within the region and identifying individuals who attempt to evade accountability by relocating or hiding within our communities.
The Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit is comprised of members from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Reno Police Department, Sparks Police Department, Nevada Parole and Probation, and the United States Marshals Service.
