Reno, Nev. -Join the Sun Valley General Improvement District in partnership with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office as we kick off the 2026 pool and recreation season with our annual Dive Into Summer event.
“All of us at the Sun Valley General Improvement District are excited to be kicking off the summer season with our annual Dive Into Summer Event,” said Susan Severt, Chair of the SVGID. “This event allows us not only to have fun, but to provide residents in the area with information from over 30 community partners. We are especially grateful to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office for their partnership on the event once again. We hope to see everyone out here and throughout the summer season.”
Bring your family, friends, picnic blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy a FREE hot dog, chips and soda. The event will include music, emergency responder equipment on display, information booths from our community resource partners, $1 raffle tickets for a chance to win great prizes, demonstration by our recreation partners, free facepainting and a limited amount of free Sun Valley Pool tokens.
No alcohol, smoking or vaping is permitted and leashed service dogs only.
“Strong communities are built through connection, trust, and being present in the neighborhoods we proudly serve,” said Sheriff Darin Balaam. “We are excited to once again partner with the Sun Valley General Improvement District to bring the community together as we kick off the summer season. Dive into Summer is a great opportunity for families to meet members of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, connect with local resources, and enjoy an evening focused on community, safety, and fun. We look forward to seeing everyone there.”
The Robert & Norma Fink Sun Valley Pool will also open for the season Thursday, June 11 and will operate through Sunday, August 9. Pool hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 12pm-5pm as staffing and weather permits with free senior swim hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am-12pm. Swim Lesson registration is now open.
